Bilum For Mama
Bilum For Mama
Aloha Beautiful Women & Mama’s!
Welcome. My name is Em, the founder of Bilum For Mama.
Bilum For Mama pays respect to the women of Papua New Guinea, part of my ancestry on my dad’s side and it also pays respect to all women through lineage, through the present and the future.
Bilum is a Traditional woven bag by Women in Papua New Guinea, they carry stories, energy and meaning. Their capacity to hold, to expand, to remain strong & resilient symbolises what I honour most about women.
Bilum in Tok Pisin means “womb”. I was inspired to name my brand and this space as Bilum For Mama in honour of the spirit & dedication for those that give, care, support and nurture women so unconditionally.
This capacity to hold & support all women and mothers is the medicine this world needs to be well, to recover from what has been and to create a world anew in harmony.
Thank you so much for being here!
I hope you love it in this space and that you feel right at home.
Love Em

Our Approach To Beauty
Beauty Is Your EnergyAfter 15 Years working in the beauty industry across the Globe, the experience which has taught me the most about beauty was becoming a Mother.
My physical body changed in almost every way when I became a Mother to my first daughter. I found myself in a body that I often resented despite it giving me so much.
It was hard to adjust to a changed and unfamiliar physical home.
It was and has been a process of meeting an evolved version of myself with openness and gratitude. My biggest inspiration has been my daughters who in every way remind me that change can be natural, beautiful and exciting. My body was their home and still is. Watching them grow, change & take up space with their joy and curiosity - reminds me that is my birth rite too.
A ritual I have drawn upon for the past many years has been self massage using plant oils. I believe the plants support us to revive ourselves or to accept the natural process of revival.
Peruvian Grown Organic Passionfruit Oil has been my plant oil of choice for many years now. It is the juicy golden elixir pressed from the seeds of passionfruit that burst with life & vibrancy.
Its natural make up of Antioxidants, Linoleic & Oleic Acid, Naturally Occurring Vitamin C and Essential Fatty Acids make it an ideal oil for balancing congestion prone skin, deeply nourishing & hydrating fatigued skin, softening, smoothing, plumping and restoring a visible vibrancy.
All of the skin care that I offer are products that I use daily, that are loved & used - because products that work and that bring daily joy don’t sit at the back of the cupboard collecting dust.
Wishing you a beautiful and continuing relationship with your gorgeous body. Gratitude to our bodies for helping us to experience the best of this life together.

“Half the battle is feeling validated”
After I had my first daughter - a hard pregnancy with Hyperemesis (chronic vomiting & debilitating nausea), a traumatic birth experience and a postpartum where I suffered with anxiety, depression and OCD, I truly felt like I was losing my mind.
Seeing a perinatal psychologist who specialises in birth trauma, being supported by a woman focused GP & building my village of support with my daughter all helped in my recovery.
It was during this time that I found the work of Karen Kleiman, a Perinatal Mental Health Expert with decades long experience working with women & mothers. Her books were the perfect antidote to hard days. Comic book style which made it do-able to open up to a new page, any page and relate hard to the shared experiences of motherhood thoughts and challenges.
These books along with ritualising conversations with friends who are traveling the same path, has taught me that half the battle truly is in feeling validated. This is and can be an enormously hard period & transition of your life.
I hope these books bring you a gentle, daily reassurance that it has for me.

Pacific Island Grown Ceremonial Grade Cacao
My journey sitting with Cacao started when I attended a last minute invitation to a meditation circle with a friend.
Being one who found the idea of meditation (what to me was closing my eyes, clearing the mind of stress) difficult with racing thoughts & a hard time ‘settling down’.
Drinking this beautiful Cacao drink immediately had a settling impact on my body.
I went on a meditative journey, along with my settled & grounded body, deepening into the guided meditation I attended.
The grounding and settling allowed for a safety of my mind to access higher thoughts, perspectives and reflections.
That was the start of a beautiful connection with Cacao that would later unfold in dreams & deeper learning. I was grateful very shortly after first sitting with this drink to win a scholarship with one the OG Cacao Sharers in Australia. Through this learning circle I was able to receive Cacao alongside the wisdom & traditional teachings of Ruk’u’x U’lew, Mayan Women Cacao Makers from Guatemala.
I have explored different Cacao, all of which have a unique energetic imprint, taste & experience shaped by the natural elements it has been grown in.
The Pacific Grown Cacao I share is from Living Koko, who sources Cacao ethically from across the Pacific Islands & who is passionately dedicated to Pacific Island Food Sovereignty.
This drink is for anyone who it calls to.
Cacao is the ultimate nourisher, a drink so easy to prepare (simply Cacao & Pure Water blended with a hand-held mixing wand or a quick blitz in the blender) to emulsify - creating a super creamy and soothing warm drink.
It can help to calm a frazzled mind, ground a fatigued body and open up the way for inspired thoughts to take root.
What makes our offering of Cacao Ceremonial Grade is the preservation of Tradition, Highest Quality, Ethical & Sustainable Methods and deep respect for land & people.
